The members of the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC), 2131 Front St., have been invited to enter CVAC's 2017 Member Exhibition, to be on display in their gallery from now through June 22. Hosting a yearly member exhibition has been a tradition at CVAC for more than 30 years. However, this year they have elevated the structure of this exhibition to their members' advantage.

"This year, our member exhibition will be arranged by media in five different categories for submission: Water Based Media, Oil Based Media, Dry Media, Mixed Media & 3-Dimensional Media." said Danielle Dieterich, Director of CVAC. "We offer a plethora of classes here at CVAC covering everything from watercolor, acrylic and oil painting to drawing, ceramics, printmaking and woodcarving. Since art education and artistic development is our focus here at CVAC we wanted to make sure that our member exhibition highlighted the different arts medias that our members excel in."

In previous years, the exhibition was not juried and only selected one first, second and third-place winner. This exhibition will have five winners, 10 honorable mentions and will go through a juried selection process, to display 15-20 pieces from each category. The jurors will select one first-place winner and two honorable mentions for each category. The first-place winners shall receive a cash prize, to be recognized and distributed at the 2017 Member Exhibition reception on June 16 from 5:30-7. This reception is free to the public and correlates with the city of Cuyahoga Falls BeBop On The Block event. Collide: Cuyahoga Falls will also be hosting live poetry readings following this reception at 7:30 on the gallery level at CVAC.
