The first Rubber City Pop Culture Fest will be May 26-28 at the historic Goodyear Hall, 1201 Ohio 18, Akron.

The group organizing the event wanted to bring a family-friendly charity driven event to the Akron area. The event is over 20 years in the making.

"We have been dreaming about doing this for a long time, the right opportunity presented itself so we finally took the leap of faith," Daniel Gorman said.

Gorman is a trained medical illustrator with his BFA in medical illustration from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Gorman began working as a sketch card artist in 2010 and has since worked on over 120 Licensed Trading Card sets featuring properties that include Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, Alien, The Lord of the Rings, and AMC's The Walking Dead.

Gorman's partner, Jason Miller, has been the eternal dreamer knowing that a Pop Culture Convention would one day be possible. Miller, who goes by Jay, is a shopkeeper by day and comic book marketer and supporter by night. Miller owns Stuff Genie Emporium in Barberton. Miller is also a licensed and bonded auctioneer specializing in toys, comics and records and co-host and co-founder of The Altered Realm Radio Show with Daniel Gorman.

Together Dan and Jason have created and worked on a few highly successful projects which include "The Akron Knight", an on-going online webcomic, The Altered Realm Radio Show and now Rubber City Pop Culture Fest which the duo hope will be the premier Pop Culture Event for the city of Akron.
