Area thespians are reminded that auditions for Aurora Community Theatre's summer stock musical "Grease" are coming up.

Dance auditions will be March 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. Vocal and monologue auditions will be March 27-28 from 7 to 9 p.m. All will be at the theater in the Aurora Memorial Library building on East Pioneer Trail.

Callbacks are April 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. If invited for a call back, everyone should be prepared to dance the routines learned at the dance auditions, sing an assigned song from the show and read from the script.

"Grease" is set in 1959 at the fictional Rydell High School. It follows 10 working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values and love.

Student character ages range from 16 to 18, but younger looking adults also will be considered. Adult character ages range from mid 20s to 40-plus. Non-traditional roles also will be cast.

Rehearsals begin in April, and performances will be June 30 to July 15 on Fridays and Saturdays, plus July 9 (a Sunday).

"Brigadoon" is ACT's spring musical. It will run on Fridays and Saturdays from April 28 to May 20. Dustin Oliver is director, Tim Shaffer is musical director and Stiver is producer.

"Brigadoon" is a Lerner & Loewe musical fantasy, which tells the whimsical tale of a love that transcends time. It is set in a magical Scottish village which emerges from the Highland mists for just one day once every 100 years.

Among memorable songs in the play are "Heather on the Hill" and "Almost Like Being in Love."

Meanwhile, priority registration for ACT's children's summer workshops runs through April 20 for children, grand- and great-grandchildren of ACT members. Open registration begins April 27.

Workshop A will run from July 17-29 and Workshop B will be from July 31-Aug. 12. Each takes place at the theater from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, culminating in a full onstage performance at the end of each session.

Children are exposed to all facets of staging a performance, including rehearsals, props, costumes, makeup, singing and dancing.

The workshop fee of $275 per child and $225 for each sibling includes a commemorative T-shirt, rehearsal CD and "Willy Wonka Jr." script to keep.

Until April 15, local residents can obtain a 2016-17 ACT membership, which will expire June 30. Each level membership obtained now includes priority registration for the 2017 children's summer workshop.

Membership levels are:

$75 sponsor -- includes three tickets which can be used for "Brigadoon" and a $39 tax-deductible contribution.

$75 sponsor -- no tickets; the full amount is a tax-deductible contribution.

$150 benefactor -- includes six tickets which can be used for "Brigadoon" and a $79 tax-deductible contribution.
