The Friends of the Hower House, in partnership with The University of Akron's School of Music, recently announced the 2016-2017 Concert Series schedule.

The schedule includes:

Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.: OcTUBAfest! The University of Akron Tuba and Euphonium

Studio present the OcTUBAfest concert. Nick Albanese, David Burnett, Michael Ebie, and

Stephanie Lumpkin will perform music of all genres. The musicians will be dressed in

Halloween costumes, and the audience is invited to do so as well. Ticket price includes a walk-through tour of the museum.

Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.: Graduate String Quartet presents the holiday concert with

Rachel Conklin and Melina Skidmore playing violin, Moneeb Iqbal playing viola, and Elis

Ramos playing cello. The program will be Franz Joseph Haydn's String Quartet in C

Major, Op 76, No. 3 "Emperor," and a collection of holiday music. The mansion will be fully decorated for the holiday season, Holidays Around the World. Festive attire is encouraged.

Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.: Jazzy Winter Concert a lively concert that is sure to get your

feet tapping to the jazzy tunes of Jack Schantz and his ensemble, featuring vocals by Patty

LaNasa. Ticket price includes a walk-through tour of the museum to view the vintage

Valentine collection on display.

April 7, 2017 at 7 p.m.: RooReeds Graduate Quintet "From Rags to Riches" Join the

RooReeds Graduate Quintet as they perform pieces from Joplin's "Ragtime Dance" to

Gershwin's "Three Preludes!" The quintet's instruments include oboe, saxophone,

clarinet, bassoon, and bass clarinet.
