The Akron Art Museum plans a full season of activity for children and families this fall. In addition to the museum's popular Live Creative programs for infants to 12, Trick or Treat on South High Street returns on Oct. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Trick or Treat on South High Street is for all ages and their grown-ups and includes an evening of fun, art-making, trick-or-treat in the galleries for art supplies, and a spooky musical performance. Kids are encouraged to come in costume.

Registration is required for all kids and family programs. Register online at, or call 330-376-9186.

Additionally, the art museum's Live Creative programs bring fun and inspiration to kids of all ages. Beginning with the very youngest children, Art Babes, for newborns to 18-month-olds and their grown-ups provides experiences for babies that engage a full range of sensory activities, including visually stimulating play with colors and shapes, as well as tactile play, sounds, tastes, even scents. It's a welcoming environment for a unique learning (and bonding) experience between babies and their grown-ups. Art Babes meets Oct. 20 and Nov. 17 in morning and afternoon sessions on each day. Morning sessions meet at 11:15 a.m., and afternoon sessions meet at 1 p.m.

Creative Playdates, for children up to 5 and their grown-ups, offers open-ended play that lets kids stretch their imagination, make a mess, and meet new friends. As an added bonus, the art museum handles all of the clean-up afterwards. Creative Playdates is Nov. 3 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Art Tales, for all ages and their grown-ups, engages children with interactive storytelling, songs, rhymes and art. Art Tales meets Nov. 10, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tots Create, for 2 and 3-year-olds and their grown-ups, gives toddlers the opportunity to explore different mediums, textures, colors and shapes--all while making a beautiful mess. Tots Create meets Nov. 5, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Kids Studio classes, for ages 7 to 12, present kids with the chance to explore unique materials, experimental processes and extraordinary works of art--just like professional artists. The experience gives them a fresh perspective in thinking creatively, while building confidence along the way. Kids Studio meets Nov. 5, from 1 to 3 p.m.
