On Oct. 16 at 3 p.m., Solon Community Church will present the inaugural performance of its new concert series with Coming Home: Megan Elk in Concert.
Elk is well known throughout the Cleveland area as cabaret chanteuse, Miss Alexandra Huntingdon (for which she was named Cleveland Scene Magazine’s Best Singer and Best Musician in 2015).
In 2016. she dispensed of the stage name and relocated to the city of Chicago, where she was recently commissioned to write a new musical for Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Chicago Voices initiative.
The hourlong program at Solon Community Church will feature her original music from the Lyric Opera performance, as well as works by Arlen, Bernstein, Buccino, Gershwin, Schwartz, Yeston, and more. She is accompanied by her former student (and Twinsburg City Schools Vocal Instructor), Andrew Novak.
Elk, a former faculty member of the Aurora School of Music, is thrilled to return to perform at Solon Community Church, where she served as soloist and mentored budding professional vocalists for many years.
The concert will take place in the sanctuary of Solon Community Church (33955 Sherbrook Park Drive, in Solon), and is free of charge. A reception with the artist will follow.
