The Cleveland Orchestra's 2016-17 Music Study Groups will begin Sept. 27, 28, and 29 at community locations throughout the Greater Cleveland area. The classes cover music from the Severance Hall subscription season of Cleveland Orchestra concerts. The series is organized into three parts so that registrants may choose a series length that best fits their schedule -- selecting from fall, winter, and/or spring. Music Study Groups are presented by the Orchestra with support from the Women's Committee of The Cleveland Orchestra and other generous donors to the education programs of The Cleveland Orchestra.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

Music Study Groups are presented by The Cleveland Orchestra in partnership with Cuyahoga County Public Library (at three of their branches) and in partnership with Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library and St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Cleveland Heights. The Cleveland Orchestra's partnership with Cuyahoga County Public Library extends to other Orchestra programs presented at their library branches, including Musical Rainbows on the Road for preschoolers, chamber music concerts by Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra members, and interactive hands-on Family Workshops (leading up to the Orchestra's annual Public Square summer concert), where young people explore orchestral instruments and learn more about the music featured on the Public Square concert.

PRESENTER

Music Study Groups are led by Rose Breckenridge, who earned her Ph.D. in music from Case Western Reserve University. In addition to her Music Study Group presentations, Dr. Breckenridge serves as the regular Concert Preview speaker for The Cleveland Orchestra's Friday Matinee concert series and other select Cleveland Orchestra concerts at Severance Hall. View Armond Budish's interview with Breckenridge on WKYC-TV3's "Golden Opportunities" program by clicking here.
