Fans of 60s British pop music could find much to like in "Shout! The Mod Musical," which will be staged at Western Reserve Playhouse.

Currently, the members of the five-woman ensemble -- which includes Molly Weidig of Canton, Jessica Harris of Kent, Tina Starkey of Twinsburg, Kim Medellin of Fairlawn, and Mary Beth Hobson of Akron -- are gearing up for the production.

"This is probably my biggest show ever," said Harris. "I am constantly on stage. There's no breaks. But it's fun. It's nice to be in a super small cast. We're really close."

One challenge with the smaller cast, Harris said, is that "because there are so few people, you can't just rely on someone else knowing the line of music."

"We all get along so well," Weidig added. "It's a good group of girls."

"Shout!" follows the lives of five women -- all of whom are identified by the color of her costume -- during the 1960s. Marc C. Howard is directing the show. The play consists of letters to an advice columnist, true confessions, quizzes and advertisements as a frame for hits like "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "To Sir With Love," "Goldfinger," "I Only Want To Be With You," "Downtown," "Son of a Preacher Man," and "SHOUT!"

"This is probably one of the most challenging productions I've done," said Starkey, who works as a pharmaceutical sales representative. "It's a lot of singing and a lot of choreography. Most of the songs are four- and five-part harmony. It's a nonstop show."

Medellin, who grew up in Stow and graduated from Stow-Munroe Falls High School, said she loved the music.

"I grew up listening to this music," Medellin said. "It's nice to sing the songs I grew up with."

One challenge, Medellin said, was being on the stage for pretty much the entire show.

"It's kind of scary," she said, "but it's fun."
