One of the oldest car shows in America, the 57th annual Classic, Antique & Collector Car Show at Stan Hywet is June 15 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This annual Father's Day event showcases classic, antique and collector cars on view in 29 separate classes; the Inner Circle of notable vehicles from 1935-1939; Future Classics (future collectibles) and the Fast Lane area of auto aftermarket vendors. Highlights this year include a display of antique fire-fighting equipment, more than 40 Ford Mustangs to celebrate this legendary automobile's 50th anniversary.

Stan Hywet is at 714 North Portage Path in Akron.

A display of Mustangs on the Great Meadow commemorates the 50th anniversary of this iconic sports car-like coupe, the first of the "pony car" class of automobiles with long hoods and short rear decks. One of the most successful product launches in automotive history, the first Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Michigan in March, 1964 and sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market. The Mustang remains in production today after many decades and numerous revisions.

Antique fire fighting apparatus is another highlight; this display includes an 1891 Amoskeag Second Size Steamer. Built in Manchester, New Hampshire by Amoskeag and used as a fire engine in New England until 1927, this engine is called a "Double Crane Neck Second Size," a top-of-the-line engine because it is 60 percent nickel-plated. The Amoskeag weighs 7,000 lbs., stands nine feet tall, six feet wide and 24 feet long. It was restored by Steve Hiltebrant in Cleveland in 1991 and has been displayed at shows around the country.

Inner Circle cars, located in front of the Manor House, are notable vehicles from 1935-1939 with the manufacture of each car documented, including the original owner. Back for kids is the popular GameTruck mobile video game center. Picnic fare will be available for purchase from Winking Lizard and Molly's Caf.

Judges will award prizes in each class for first, second, and third place.

General admission to the Father's Day Car Show is $12 for adults and $5 for youth, ages 6 to 17. Children 5 and under are free, and Stan Hywet member discounts are available. There is no onsite parking at Car Show, but free parking and shuttle service is available throughout the day to and from designated off-site parking locations.
