Solon Center for the Arts would like to congratulate the winners of the Solon Philharmonic Orchestra's 2014 Young Artist Concerto Competition. This year's event was the most competitive in the seven-year history of the contest, featuring twenty-four soloists between the ages of 8 and 17.

Taking first place this year is violinist Serena Shapard from Cleveland Heights, followed by second place violinist Susan Ke of Solon and third place violinist Ashley Zendarski of Twinsburg. Honorable mentions were given to clarinetist Samuel Shomette of Solon and violinist Kevin Du of Cleveland Heights.

First and second place winners of the Concerto Competition will perform with the Solon Philharmonic Orchestra in the final performance of the 2013-14 Season. The performance will take place on Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. in the Calvetta Bros. Floor Show Theater at Solon Center for the Arts.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $8 for Solon seniors, are now on sale in person at SCA or online at A reception and brief awards ceremony will take place following the concert.
