Tuesday Musical will present A Far Cry and cellist Matt Haimovitz on March 11 at E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron.

A Far Cry stands at the forefront of an exciting new generation in classical music. This ensemble has been expanding the boundaries of orchestral repertoire and experimenting with the ways music is prepared, performed, and experienced. Matt Haimovitz is a renowned musical pioneer, and has inspired classical music lovers and countless new listeners by bringing his artistry to concert halls and clubs, outdoor festivals and intimate coffee houses. Through his visionary approach, Haimovitz is redefining what it means to be an artist for the 21st century.

This engagement marks a return to Tuesday Musical for Haimovitz. He appeared as a young artist in 1991.

The pre-concert lecture will be by Jamie Wilding, Theory /Composition at The University of Akron. All pre-concert talks begin at 6:30 p.m. in the concert hall.

Tickets are $25, $40 and $45, and can be purchased through EJ Thomas Hall Ticket Office at 330-972-7570.

Students can attend any Tuesday Musical concert at no cost; they need a ticket voucher that is redeemed for a concert ticket the night of the concert. Parents or adults who accompany their children may purchase companion seats for a reduced price of $15. Transportation costs are covered for groups of 20 or more.
