The Akron Civic Theatre will host a 1920s-themed fundraiser, Spirits of the Civic, on April 13 starting at 6:30 p.m.

The night begins as party-goers enter back into the time period of the 1920s. A Speakeasy with hearty appetizers and "hooch to wet your whistle" will be available along with the sultry songs of Helen Welch, the dancing of Verb Ballets, the music of Josh Rzepka and the Keystone Cops. The night continues to unfold with bourbon tastings from Cleveland Whiskey, Knob Creek, Red Stag and Devil's Cut, Vodka tasting with Pinnacle, and a variety of Goose Island beers. Attendees can enjoy a smoke in a private cigar tent. After a live auction, the stage will be transformed into a casino gaming hall and dance floor. Desserts and coffee will round out the night.

Guests will also be able to participate in activities such as the Jail and Bail Fundraiser. The Civic's own Keystone Cops will be serving arrest warrants for gangsters, moonshiners and thugs issued by other guests to be carried out on their close friends.

Silent and live auction items will feature autographed guitars from the Black Keys, Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Daryl Hall & John Oates and Matchbox 20.

Guests are encouraged to come dressed for the occasion in 1920s clothing or evening attire.
