Brittnie Price, a 2010 graduate of Hudson High School, will be appearing in the 1960s musical "Hair" at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall in Akron March 5 and 6.

Price's mother, Katie O'Toole Smith, said her daughter is living her dream, touring internationally with the cast of "Hair" with appearances slated as far away as Tokyo. She was selected from 1,300 applicants who auditioned for the roles in New York City, according to her mother.

"She's been singing since she was 4," Smith said.

Price, a junior at Kent State University, is pursuing a bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theatre.

Kent is allowing Price to continue her studies online as she tours with the play and is giving her six credits toward her degree for the experience in her field.

According to Smith, her daughter also was invited to audition for the TV show "The Voice" but it conflicted with her tour in "Hair."

Price has appeared in plays at Hudson Middle School, Hudson High School, Kent State University and Cedar Point.

"All her life, music has been her passion," said Smith.
