Actors needed

for mystery

Pilgrim Church's Act-It UP! Theater Group will have auditions for its third Annual Mystery Dinner Theater entitled "The Mysterious Case of the Broken Heart" Feb. 7 and 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Feb. 9 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The available roles include four roles for children, two boys ages 10-12 and two girls ages 8-12; 8 women's roles, various ages; and 8 men's roles, various ages.

There is no prior preparation required. Scripts will be provided for those who are planning to audition. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each week beginning Feb. 21. There will be two performances on May 3 at 7 p.m. and May 5 at 5 p.m. If auditioning, bring a calendar to the auditions to declare any conflicts.

In the play, Lynn Sable, a Southern Belle and successful Inspirational Novelist, offers a glimpse into her creative process, delivering clues to solve the mystery in a unique and charming way. She does her best to guide the guests to the correct solution to the mystery as characters from her current writing project come alive to illustrate the story.

Actors needed for 'Jesus Christ Superstar'

Aurora Community Theatre will have auditions for Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Jesus Christ Superstar" March 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. Callbacks, if needed, will be March 5.

The play will be directed by Marc C. Howard, with music direction by Steve Parsons.

Those auditioning should prepare 32 bars of music (preferably not from the show); bring sheet music, no CDs or tapes. An accompanist will be provided. Auditions are private, no appointments necessary. If possible, bring a head shot and resume.

Performances are April 26 through May 18, with two Sunday matinees May 5 and 12.

Hudson Players schedules auditions for 'Little Shop'

The Hudson Players will have auditions for the fun classic boy meets girl, plant eats people musical comedy "Little Shop of Horrors", on Feb. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. at the Barlow Community Center, at 41 S. Oviatt St in Hudson.

All roles are available with interested crew and production team members (publicity, set, props, costumes, sound, lights, etc) also being sought. Auditions are open to all with no restrictions. Those auditioning are asked to bring a prepared song preferably in the style of the show (50s/60s pop rock - 32 bars maximum). An accompanist will be provided. No recorded music or unaccompanied singing. Auditioners may also be asked to do a brief reading from the script.

"Little Shop of Horrors" performances are scheduled for April 26, 27, May 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17 and 18. The musical, will be directed by Alex Nine, with directing assistance and choreography by Chanda Porter and musical direction by Dave Stebbins. Roles are available for four to five men and four to five women ages 17 and up (depending on the part and overall casting).

ZOSO performs

at Akron Civic

The Akron Civic Theatre will present ZOSO: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Tribute on Feb. 9.

The opening act for ZOSO is Elipsus. They are the winner of the Stonestock competition produced at Firestone HS by the Friends of the Akron School for the Arts.

CD release party at Happy Days Lodge

Akron-based band Hey Mavis will celebrate the release of its second CD, Honey Man, with a concert and reception at Happy Days Lodge in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Happy Days Lodge is at 500 West Streetsboro Road in Peninsula. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert begins at 8pm. Reception and CD signing to follow concert. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling 330-657-2909 ext. 100.
