School calendars come out Aug. 5

The district's 2007-08 school calendars will be an insert in the Aug. 5 issue of the Stow Sentry.

Speech and Debate Team to host fundraisers

The Stow-Munroe Falls High School Speech and Debate Team will host car wash fundraisers Aug. 4, Aug. 25 and Sept. 2. The car washes will take place in the parking lot of Dairy Queen, 3645 Fishcreek Road in Stow, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members also will sell discount cards for Handel's Ice Cream during the fundraisers.

This year, the team sent 14 students to the state tournament in March and four to compete at the national level in June. Proceeds from the fundraisers will be used for the Speech and Debate team, which competes in approximately 15 tournaments during the school year. It costs approximately $150 for the team to attend a regular tournament and $210 plus hotel and travel expenses to compete in state tournaments and as much as $800 per student to go to nationals.

Band fundraiser set for Aug. 11

The Stow-Munroe Falls High School Marching Band will host its annual Hot Dog Fundraiser at Drug Mart, 4044 Fishcreek Road, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Members of the SMFHS Band will perform outside Drug Mart, while beverages, chips and hot dogs are served.

School to host picnic for interested parents

The Cornerstone Community School in Stow will host a summer picnic for families considering sending their children to the school. The picnic will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at the school, 4510 Stow Road.

Guests are asked to bring table service, a side dish to share and their own meat to grill. Grills and beverages will be provided.
