McWhirter captures fourth

victory of the year

Tallmadge resident Jacob McWhirter celebrated Father's Day (June 17) by claiming his fourth victory of the year at Barberton Speedway in the Barberton Kart Racing Cadet Junior Sportsman class.

He piloted the Victory Racing No. 7 Cadet to his fourth pole of the year by sweeping both heat races.

McWhirter drove to victory lane for the first time on Father's Day last year.

He is scheduled to return to Circleville Raceway Park for the first race of the Kids1st racing series.

McWhirter just completed his Tallmadge Minor A Little League season with the White Sox.

The 2007 Tallmadge Youth Football Camp is scheduled to take place July 23 through 26 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Overdale Stadium.

The camp is for players entering grades 2 through 8. The cost is $50, which includes camp T-shirt and daily awards. The cost is $60 after July 9.

Make checks payable to Tallmadge Football. Campers need to wear football cleats and their own water bottles.

Campriana homers

In a showdown of the top two teams in the Diamond League 18-and-under division, the Ohio Hurricanes travel baseball team rolled to a 15-7 victory over the Brownlee Lookouts recently at Walsh Jesuit High School.

Tallmadge resident Jon Campriana had a solo home run for the Lookouts.
